I had the incredible honor of working at the White House for President Joe Biden in three different roles on the Presidential Correspondence team:
Presidential Writer
Associate Director of Correspondence
Senior Advisor for Writing
On my very first day, I began writing letters from the President to people he met at events, on official trips, and in private meetings, ensuring that everyone he interacted with received a personalized letter of appreciation. I drafted notes to celebrities and world leaders, but he and his team were mostly interested in making sure that teachers, union workers, activists, and community leaders received recognition and thanks they deserved.
As my responsibilities grew, I came to oversee five writers and two interns, checking in with them regularly, editing their work, and tracking all of our deadlines. This meant regularly collaborating with teams all across the White House for their feedback, and managing an editorial calendar that often featured more than a hundred products at any given time.
I drafted thousands of letters, condolences, messages, and greetings, and made sure that every letter requested by President Biden or his team made it to his desk for signature.
While I can’t publicly share samples of my writing, I’d be more than happy to chat with you or your team if you’d like to learn more.
